How long should it take me to install ASFIR skid plates?
If you have some basic mechanical experience working on your vehicle, you can expect the installation of each component to take 20-30 minutes. If you don’t have any experience, this could take longer, but we’ve seen beginners complete their installation within 1 hour.
Do I need a lift to install ASFIR Skid plates?
No. A lift could make installation easier, as a lift makes any work on the underside of a vehicle easier. However, it is not required to install ASFIR skid plates.
Do I need jack stands to install ASFIR Skid plates?
We recommend a minimal clearance that will enable you to comfortably access the underside of your vehicle. For most vehicles this means jack stands are required, though we have heard from customers with lifted vehicles that didn’t even require jack stands - they are likely the exception and not the rule.
Do I need to cut, grind, drill or weld any part of my vehicle to fit ASFIR skid plates?
No. All ASFIR skid plates are bolt on, with a 100% perfect fit every time.
While other brands may require you to modify your chassis and vehicle, we don’t want to risk any drilling or grinding to potentially be a source of rust in the future, and welds may differ by various installers and their skills.
