Some JL 3.6L manual vehicles were not equipped with the center crossmember required for installing this skid plate. Based on our experience, customers with those vehicles have purchased the required crossmember separately before completing the installation.

Unfortunately, we don't have the exact part number for the center crossmember. We recommend checking with your local Jeep dealer using your VIN to ensure you get the correct part for your vehicle.

The skid plate is made from 5052-H32 aluminum, 1/4" (6 mm) thick.
The mounting brackets are made from 5/16" (8 mm) AISI 1020 steel and are zinc-coated for corrosion resistance.

I dont have a Willy's but I do have a 2024 Rubicon with the XR package. Everything should fit just fine. The flag nuts are a giant pain in the butt to get started, but once you get it, you're golden. Everything will line up and bolt together just fine. I had a long arm kit from Clayton installed prior to purchasing mine which required the removal of the front cross bar. I now have to figure out how to remedy that. The skid plate is still in place just fine, but there is no middle reinforcement for the engine skid plate.

they are incredibly stout and even tho in photos the brackets look like they are made of aluminum they are in fact thick steel and attached to the frame and then the skid itself shores them up even more. I think it would take an incredible freak event for that to happen.

Front supports are bolted to the frame. If you hit with enough force to shear the bolts or the supports, the condition of your Jeep will be the least of your concerns. Also, your spotter.

The forward supports are pretty robust. The way they are designed limits the risk they will allow the skid plate to shift. I’ve had no issues and I tackle a lot of rocky trails.

Depends how hard you hit it. Rock climbing in a proper manor should be ok. A large drop could damage the engine.
I found it to be the best design because it is not attached to the engine.

The scenario you are descripting would be next to impossible in my opinion. The support brackets would, if I remember correctly, end up going into the frame or outside the frame. In addition, the rear of the ASFIR skid plate is fastened in 2 separate places. Going south towards the rear differential, 2 or 3 bolts hold the skid plate to the OEM transmission skid plate. Which is like a cross member. Then going back to the end of the skid plate, 2 more bolts hold the skid plate to the Jeep's cross member. For the money and the quality of the ASFIR product, I would tell you that it can't be beat and just buy it already.

My perception is the front mounts are heavy duty enough to withstand the full weight of the Jeep coming down on the skid and there is considerable clearance between the skid and the engine/oil pan.

If I recall correctly the pan itself attaches to the frame. It’s very solid. There is good room between the oil pan and the skid plate. I don’t see it getting hit hard enough to smash into the engine in any way.

The plate is bolted on to the frame. The whole aim of the plates are to protect the engine and other assemblies form direct rock hits

No, there is a good sized hole for oil changes.

No, the drain hole in skid plate works well for access to the drain plug/bolt.

Not at all. There’s plenty of room to access the oil drain plug (on a 3.6L V-6 JL). Even better, you can install a Fumoto Valve which the skid plate fully protects and makes draining the oil even easier.
