The Jeep Wrangler JL and Gladiator Steering Rod Protector is manufactured from precision laser-cut 1/4" (6 mm) aluminum, ensuring excellent strength with minimal added weight. Designed for vehicles equipped with the original OEM steel front bumper, it provides reliable protection for the steering rod while minimizing clearance loss. Recommended as part of ASFIR’s complete underbody protection set for Jeep models.

What is the actual weight difference (savings) of your steering rod protection skid plate, over the OEM part?

We don't save weight if you compare that to the Plastic OEM cover, and if you compare it to the Steel OEM cover it's almost the same weight.
We do save a lot of weight compare to other aftermarket skid plates while still maintaining maximum protection and optimal coverage.

ASFIR makes a great product. I have installed their products on both my Gladiator and our Willys. The 2026 fitment was great, but an absolute pain in the butt to line up the nut in the frame. That took the most time. I would have given 5 stars if it were not for that design idea.

The installer could not find enough washers (grommets)

The installer could not find enough washers (grommets), maybe the packers made an error. I could use FOUR additional washers...these are meant to allow better sliding over rocks. PLEASE SEND.
