Jeep Wrangler JL Engine & Transmission Skid Plate (2.0L)

Great Product. Easy to install and offers the protection I wanted for the Oil Pan. I only wish it was designed to keep the current cross bar that came on the jeep in place. I had seen a video (I believe it was a 4door) where the cross bar was left in place but the 2 door is designed to remove that bar. I wanted the additional support that the bar offers and was able to reinstall it over that the skid plate but had to use a spacer on the bolt on the back side. This reduced some of my clearance but for my use that was preferable to not having the extra support. Over all very happy with the product quality.

Skid plate and mounts are sturdy. Install was super easy and quick. About to take my jeep to Ouray Colorado and this was a must have before the trip. Excited to see how it handles.

After putting a hole in a trans cooler line I knew I needed to add skids immediately. Went with the Asfir engine skid because it has great coverage and it’s a bolt in install. If I had any suggestions for Asfir it would be to make it another inch wider on the passenger side and make the passenger side lip another 2 inches tall at a 60 degree or so angle to cover the trans lines better as well as the intercooler pump lines. All in all it’s a great skid and I have put the weight of the Jeep on it multiple times.

Arrived quickly and packaged well, quick install.

Perfect fit and a breeze to install.

Some caveats first: If you have a front diff cover, you might need modifications. I have a front diff cover that interfered with the front driver's side bracket during articulation. The skid plate installed fine and the clearance with the diff cover was close but it ended up rubbing during normal driving. After removing both, I ground off maybe a 1/4" off each and that took care of it. Also, the remote mounting nut for the front driver's side bracket is kind of tricky to install, especially since I had to do it twice :)! Other than that, I love how it looks, access to the oil filter is still easy and the installation video was fantastic. The quality of the materials is also very good, this thing is a tank and the engineering of how it attaches is really ingenious. I was able to install solo on ramps on my garage floor, although I had to get creative with a floor jack and some wood blocks to help hold things in place during the front driver's side bracket install. Two people and a lift would make this a breeze to install but it's doable solo. If you prefer to pay a mechanic shop, they should be able to do it in under an hour.

The skid plate is lighter weight and competitively priced, which is what I was looking for. The package showed up and the soft aluminum had several scratches on it from shipping - just cosmetic and not a huge deal because would be hard to view under the Jeep. The real reason for the poor rating was the nut insert they sent was not the correct size. When I requested the right one, it took forever to get the part delivered that kept me from installing the plate before my wheeling trip. The parts did eventually arrive. I think the salesman got tired of hearing from me and stopped responding to my inquiries.
