The Jeep Wrangler JK Fuel Tank Skid Plate is made from high-quality, laser-cut 1/4" (6 mm) aluminum, offering durable and lightweight protection specifically for Long Wheelbase (LWB) models. Designed to shield the fuel tank from off-road hazards while preserving ground clearance, it is recommended as part of ASFIR’s complete underbody protection system for the Wrangler JK LWB.

I’m confused.. I see couple questions that have been asked and answered differently.. does the fuel tank skip plate replace the oem one? So do I remove oem to install yours? Thanks Tom

Thanks for reaching out, and sorry for the confusion.

The ASFIR fuel tank skid plate does not replace the OEM fuel tank skid. The factory skid stays in place, and our skid installs over it as an added layer of protection. There’s no need to remove the OEM skid during installation.

It goes over it. Install is pretty straightforward actually. Just have a pry bar in order to line up bolts. Just make sure to install very loose.

ASFIR makes a great product. I have installed their products on both my Gladiator and our Willys. The 2026 fitment was great, but an absolute pain in the butt to line up the nut in the frame. That took the most time. I would have given 5 stars if it were not for that design idea.

The installer could not find enough washers (grommets)

The installer could not find enough washers (grommets), maybe the packers made an error. I could use FOUR additional washers...these are meant to allow better sliding over rocks. PLEASE SEND.
