Nissan Xterra Fuel Tank Skid Plate

The plate has a great design and fits very well. I like that it uses alternative bolting locations rather than the original. Makes it much easier to install and stronger. Because of rust and age, I broke every bolt that needed to be removed and had to drill out and re-tap each one. This means I needed larger diameter bolts. For this reason, I would suggest offering a "rust kit" that has larger hardware, taps and good quality steel drill bits.
Design suggestions: the bolt that screws into the frame needs protection and so does the one that secures the L bracket to the plate. When driving over rocks, I use the frame as a "slider". These bolts will be easily sheared off. Even a small amount of material before these bolts would prevent damage.

The skid is really well thought out and was packaged well. It bolted right up without any issues. I haven’t put it to use yet, but im sure it’ll hold up for what I intend to do with it.
